  • Yes, we are still Celebrating National Mushroom Month!

     "Untamed Mushrooms: From Field To Table" . 


    National Mushroom Month is celebrated each year throughout the month of September. During this time, the U.S. Department of Agriculture takes advantage of the opportunity to educate people on the versatility mushrooms offer and on their health benefits. As a result, mushrooms are gaining more and more appreciation as we learn more about them.

    I am proud to say I found a great place to learn about mushrooms from an amazingly creative and talented food stylist named Lisa Golden Schroeder who I met through a volunteering gig with Roots for the Home Team. While I helped my group of kids from Roots design salad recipes to sell at the Twins Games, Lisa was busy styling and creating all of the beautiful marketing pictures of the finished salads. After we finished our duties with Roots, Lisa and I had time to chat and get to know each other, and we found out that we were neighbors and shared many commonalities.

    Lisa Golden Schroeder has co-authored a gorgeous, new, local book all about Mushrooms titled "Untamed Mushrooms: From Field to Table," 2018, . This book is full of everything you need to know about the "schroom" including beautiful pics, safe mushroom foraging tips, and of course, delicious, safe recipes incorporating mushrooms. is co-authored by the photographer, Dennis Becker, ( Cook, Food Stylist/Writer, Lisa Golden Schroeder, (, and Michael Karns, Wild Food/Foraging entrepreneur (
